New Updates for Exterro FTK® Central

March 4, 2022

Since the acquisition of AccessData in December 2020, Exterro has committed to reinvigorating the FTK® suite of digital forensics software. The FTK family of products has offered unmatched support for law enforcement and enterprise investigators for any type of forensic investigation, whether they’re investigating a breach or investigating a suspect. Law enforcement agencies have relied on FTK technology for over three decades, using it to bring criminals to justice and stop terrorism, human trafficking, child exploitation, cybercrime and other crimes.

As Exterro CEO Bobby Balachandran said, “FTK is the trusted gold standard in digital forensics because it finds the evidence other tools can't, helps investigators work better and faster, and gets it right every time. We have and continue to invest in the FTK Product Portfolio to help make the world a safer place by supporting and protecting those who protect the most vulnerable.”

Recent upgrades to FTK Central® demonstrate this commitment, as well as Exterro’s commitment to make FTK easier to use and more effective for the law enforcement officers who rely on it to resolve investigations worldwide. The latest version of FTK, released to users today, includes three valuable new features:

  • The latest version of FTK Central integrates the Exterro Connector Framework starting with the Box Cloud Storage connector, allowing you to integrate Exterro’s wide array of industry-leading data connectors to your forensic workflows. While this version of FTK Central starts with the Box Cloud Storage connector, look for other integrations coming soon.

  • FTK Central now supports exporting Semantics 21 JSON output. Semantics 21 leads the industry in victim identification for child sexual abuse cases with its state-of-the-art software to analyze and grade images and video. Now it’s easier than ever to export images forSemantics 21 grading!

  • The latest version of FTK Central improves the user experience in several ways. Changes to the background color indication for viewed files, color text indicators for file status like encrypted files, increased file-type filter options, auto-column switching, more shortcut key optimizations, and much more make FTK Central easier and more intuitive to use than ever.

An additional aspect of Exterro’s commitment to both the FTK family of products and the law enforcement professionals who use it is the Exterro Law Enforcement Grant Program. Through it, deserving law enforcement agencies receive software and training packages valued at several thousand dollars, including a one-year subscription to the FTK digital forensic toolkit software suite and Exterro Forensics Training Pass for unlimited training for one year.

If you’re interested in being considered for the Spring 2022 round of law enforcement grants, apply today on the program’s homepage on Exterro.com.
