Why This Privacy Law is Important:

The Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL), an independent French data protection authority, has published a guide on best practices for software developers in an effort to facilitate compliance with GDPR. Since many organizations struggle with translating regulatory requirements into business practices and technology deployment, these concrete recommendations provide them with a path to follow to achieve and maintain compliance.

Overview:

Software developers must ensure that their technology complies with the requirements of GDPR, both for consent and for security. CNIL has updated its GDPR Guide for Developers in December 2021 with a major revision that includes new datasheets and examples of code that illustrate key GDPR requirements in practical terms.

The two primary topics covered in this update are the use of cookies and other online trackers and a list of software vulnerabilities that have caused data breaches, accompanied by measures that could have prevented those vulnerabilities.
