Thank You for a Great 2022 from Exterro

As the year comes to a close, there's one important tradition that spans all the various celebrations that happen at this time of year: expressing your affection and appreciation for family, friends, and all those who make our lives special. Of course we should always do this as people, but organizations, like Exterro, should also do so.

2022 has sped by as a year, but no doubt lots has happened, both in the worlds of e-discovery, privacy, and digital forensics, but also to Exterro itself. 2022 saw E-Discovery break through into the major newspaper headlines as well as the popular media, with cases like Alex Jones' defamation trial, the January 6th prosecutions, and even the Depp-Heard debacle trial having significant e-discovery storylines. 

Across the globe and even here at home, privacy regulators have stepped up their enforcement of existing regulations--no doubt because consumers are finally waking up to the way that many organizations exploit their data against their wishes. Recent rulings, settlements, and enforcement actions by California's AG against Sephora, the FTC against Drizly, criminal courts against former Uber execs, and by the UK's ICO and other European regulators all demonstrate that organizations must ensure they're obtaining valid, specific consent and managing data responsibly.

Meanwhile, cyberthreats continue to proliferate, with the costs of data breaches rising, ransomware attacks becoming more prevalent, and targets of breaches moving beyond major companies to smaller service providers, including in the legal industry, as hackers seek targets of opportunity with lower levels of cybersecurity.

At Exterro, we've announced a strategic recapitalization fueling future growth, launched a multiple award winning project with the West Midlands Police, awarded grants to US police departments, and launched exciting new products in digital forensics and privacy as part of our holistic Legal GRC suite.
