Taking place December 1, E-Discovery Day will include a full day of educational webcasts, interviews, and other educational activities organized by Exterro and other industry leaders.
PORTLAND, Ore., September 17, 2015 – Exterro® Inc., the preferred provider of software designed for in-house legal and IT teams at Global 2000 organizations, in partnership with Today’s General Counsel, EDRM, and Actiance, announced a full lineup of webcasts, content, and events in support of the first annual E-Discovery Day, taking place on December 1, 2015.
These activities will bring together a diverse group of professionals to share experiences, discuss key trends, and provide best practices with the goal of elevating e-discovery into mainstream legal discussion.
“In today’s digital world, e-discovery not only impacts legal risk but increasingly influences a company’s bottom line. Despite these high stakes, industry surveys continue to show that e-discovery competency, skills, and confidence among legal practitioners and business leaders remain alarmingly low,” said Bill Piwonka, Chief Marketing Officer at Exterro.
“Exterro and Today’s General Counsel, EDRM, and Actiance are launching E-Discovery Day as an industry-wide initiative aimed at promoting e-discovery awareness and education. We encourage all stakeholders within the e-discovery industry, including others in the vendor community, to join us in our efforts to increase awareness and competency within this critical business process.”
“E-discovery is going to be with us for the long haul,” noted George Socha, Co-Founder of EDRM. “That means all of us working to resolve disputes need to improve our e-discovery knowledge. With its webinars, content, and events, E-Discovery Day offers a great opportunity to do exactly that.”
A dedicated website, www.e-discoveryday.com, was created to serve as a central hub where practitioners can find information about all activities associated with E-Discovery Day.
To support the first annual E-Discovery Day on December 1, 2015, Exterro planned several events and activities, including:
CLE Webcasts
Educational webcasts covering topical e-discovery issues featuring judges, lawyers, technologists, and other influential thought leaders.
Interviews
Discussions with e-discovery practitioners and industry experts.
First Annual Judicial Influencer of the Year Award
An award recognizing the federal judge who made the most significant impact on e-discovery in the previous year, as voted on by peers.
New White Papers and Reports
Publications highlighting e-discovery best practices and technology considerations.
“As the leading source of news, commentary, and educational materials related to legal technology aimed at in-house legal professionals, Today’s General Counsel is thrilled to be a founding supporter of this cross-industry initiative. We anticipate broad support and envision great things in the years ahead,” said Stephen Lincoln, Chief Operating Officer of Today’s General Counsel.
“The influx of social media into mainstream business communications has created new regulatory and legal requirements,” said Lisa Bergamo, Senior Director of Corporate Communications at Actiance. “We believe E-Discovery Day is a great initiative that benefits our clients. As a market leader, we have a responsibility to raise awareness of how companies can improve legal operations by reducing the time and cost of e-discovery. We look forward to sharing our expertise and best practices.”
