Exterro Continues to Build Out Its Collection Capabilities with a New Partnership

Read this blog post to learn about Exterro's new partnership with ModeOne, giving e-discovery, compliance, and digital forensic professionals the ability to collect data remotely, at scale, from smartphones.

Today, Exterro announced a strategic partnership with ModeOne Technologies, the developer of a patented SaaS framework designed to automate the remote, targeted collection of smartphone data. Through this collaboration, Exterro customers can now leverage the ModeOne Smartphone Framework OEM, providing the industry's first truly remote, same-day collection solution for both Apple iOS and Android devices.

This partnership addresses one of the most significant bottlenecks in modern digital investigations: the logistical challenge of physical smartphone access.

Solving the Remote Mobile Challenge

Traditionally, remote mobile collection required shipping physical "collection kits" or deploying onsite forensic experts—processes that are both time-consuming and expensive. The ModeOne integration allows for:

  • Global Reach: Collect data from anywhere in the world without physical hardware.
  • Targeted Collection: Unlike full-device "dumps," ModeOne enables the selective capture of specific application data, protecting custodian privacy while reducing data volumes for review.
  • Same-Day Results: Data can be acquired 25x faster than traditional labor-intensive processes, often moving from collection to analysis within a few hours.

Seamless Platform Integration

Data collected via the ModeOne framework from Android and Apple devices flows directly into Exterro's unified ecosystem. This ensures a consistent chain of custody and eliminates the need for manual data transfers between disparate tools.

Integrated Exterro Solutions:

Strategic Impact for 2026

As we look at the landscape in May 2026, the ability to perform targeted, remote collections has become a standard requirement for corporate compliance and internal investigations. By eliminating the need for device seizure, organizations can maintain employee productivity while simultaneously meeting stringent litigation and regulatory deadlines.

Important Note: While this partnership significantly enhanced Exterro's mobile capabilities, users should be aware that as of early 2026, litigation has been initiated between ModeOne and Exterro in the Delaware District Court (ModeOne Technologies, Inc. v. Exterro, Inc.). This may impact future joint service roadmaps, though the core functionality remains a cornerstone of the current Exterro Remote Mobile Discovery offering.
