Climb Higher with Exterro: Opportunities for Growth

Standing at 13,000 feet just before summiting Mt. Alice in the Rockies, Adam Krieger found himself reflecting on more than just the climb. Clad in an Exterro jacket, he realized how much the company had supported his "ascent" both on and off the mountain over the past year.

Summiting Success: A Personal Journey at Exterro

This post is a guest contribution by Adam Krieger, Senior Business Development Representative at Exterro.

Standing at 13,000 feet just before summiting Mt. Alice in the Rockies, Adam Krieger found himself reflecting on more than just the climb. Clad in an Exterro jacket, he realized how much the company had supported his "ascent" both on and off the mountain over the past year.

The Role of a Business Development Representative (BDR)

Adam joined the Exterro Business Development Team to act as a bridge between the sales team and prospective customers. His core responsibilities include:

  • Identifying Prospects: Researching and connecting with organizations that need Legal GRC solutions.
  • Building Relationships: Engaging with professionals to understand their unique challenges.
  • Problem Solving: Mapping Exterro’s suite of products—from e-discovery to privacy—to the specific needs of potential clients.

A Culture of Collaboration and Remote Connection

Despite being full-time remote, Adam highlights that communication at Exterro is more fluid and constant than in traditional office settings.

  • Open Knowledge Sharing: From day one, the team fostered an environment where questions are encouraged every "five minutes."
  • Mutual Support: While sales is often viewed as a cutthroat field, the Exterro team prioritizes covering for one another to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
  • Leadership Accessibility: Sales Directors and managers are actively involved, sharing tips and experiences to help team members get ahead.

Defined Growth vs. Stagnant Promises

One of the most significant differences Adam noted at Exterro is the approach to career pathing. Rather than vague "five-year plans," management at Exterro focuses on:

  1. Concrete Steps: Identifying specific skills needed for the next level.
  2. Active Encouragement: Pushing employees to pursue the paths that interest them most.
  3. Rapid Advancement: In just over a year, Adam earned a promotion to Senior BDR and has taken on a role in training new team members.

Life Outside the "Office"

The ultimate benefit of the Exterro environment is the balance it provides. The flexibility of the remote model allowed Adam to spend a week in the Rockies—completely disconnected from cellular signal—while still exceeding his professional quotas.

For Adam, Exterro isn't just a place to work; it’s a career that provides the financial independence and time to live the life he wants for himself and his family.

"Anyway, that's enough rest. It's time to keep climbing."
