The Digital Forensic students at St. Pölten Uuniversity Of Applied Sciences in Austria used using only open-source digital forensics software,but professors found these solutions were often outdated and less than ideal. Staff had to spend additional time managing technical issues, while students had to spend more time on manual investigations. Since these tools were not adequately preparing students for the professional world they would soon be entering, the Department of Computer Science and Security acknowledged they needed to upgrade their digital forensics software.
