Exterro Launches The E-Discovery Case Law Project

From the founders of E-Discovery Day, the E-Discovery Case Law Project aims to educate the marketplace on the most recent e-discovery case law in a simplified, streamlined manner

PORTLAND, Ore., June 30, 2016 – Exterro® Inc., the preferred provider of software specifically designed for in-house legal and IT teams at Global 2000 and AmLaw 200 organizations, today announced the launch of The E-Discovery Case Law Project (EDCLP), an educational initiative with the goal of providing simplified case facts and analysis on the latest court rulings in e-discovery. The EDCLP's first major undertaking is the release of Exterro's new educational resource center, The Simplified E-Discovery Case Law Library , which will provide an evergreen collection of simple, easy-to-understand recaps and analyses on recent e-discovery case law rulings.

In addition to the case law library, the EDCLP also will include:

  • Monthly webcasts, featuring e-discovery experts discussing need-to-know court rulings
  • Case law white papers published monthly on trending e-discovery topics
  • Weekly case law email alerts of recent important court decisions
  • Social media presence, including a new E-Discovery Case Law Twitter account and LinkedIn group to create a forum for legal professional to discuss e-discovery case law with their peers

Bill Piwonka, Chief Marketing Officer with Exterro, says, “Ever since the recent FRCP amendments were first proposed, Exterro has taken a lead role in creating content that made it easy to understand the potential impact to the daily lives of e-discovery professionals. Throughout this process we realized there wasn't a resource that provided clear, simple and straightforward analysis on the latest and most relevant court rulings affecting e-discovery. Our intent with the EDCLP and the variety of elements included in it, is to provide a way legal teams can be kept aware of new e-discovery court rulings that fits their busy schedules."

The first e-discovery case law webcast, E-Discovery Case Law Update: 2016 Spring Recap will air on August 3, 2016 at 1pm ET. This webcast will include expert analysis on the most influential e-discovery cases from the spring of 2016. Webcast panelists include: John Facciola, Magistrate Judge (Ret.) District of Columbia, William Hamilton, Executive Director – E-Discovery Project with University of Florida School of Law, and Michael Burg, Esq. Corporate Counsel with Dish, Inc.

The first case law whitepaper will be published on August 4, 2016 and will showcase recent cases where parties have reduced e-discovery costs with 'out-of-the-box' ideas such as narrowing e-discovery parameters and clawback agreements.
